Tae Kwon-Do is the Korean art of self defence, developed from a number of Korean arts like "Soo Bak" and "Taek Kyon". These date back over two thousand years. The best hand moves were added later. The Name Tae Kwon-Do was invented in 1955 by retired Major General Choi Hong Hi (9th Dan), the founder. This was done to unify the Korean art so it could be spread around the world.
