Instructor Profiles - Paul Owen
Assistant Instructor, 2nd Degree Black Belt
Paul has been training in martial arts since the age of 15. He first started training in Tae Kwon Do with the TAGB in 1985 where he graded to red belt. Still training, Paul also took classes in Ju Jitsu for several years under instruction from a retired Paratrooper, a Bodyguard and a Prison Guard, learning the traditional art of Ju Jitsu, along with self defence and other close combat techniques.
Paul also trained in Karate for 12 months before returning and dedicating more time to Tae Kwon-Do several years later. Paul obtained his black belt in Tae Kwon-Do in 2005, and further enhanced his martial arts studies with three years training in Kung-Fu and undertaking personal tuition in XMA (Extreme Martial Arts) from a TV and film stunt co-ordinator.
Having experienced several different styles, Pauls main-stay is still Tae Kwon-Do, being his first and favorite since he was but a small boy! Paul is now a 2nd Dan black belt and a qualified umpire. He can be seen officiating at several of the TAGB's tournaments each year.
Nicknamed 'tall' in class, Paul is an assistant instructor, has been CRB checked (enhanced disclosure) and will be happy to assist if you need a helping hand.
